How much will I gain with a 62/12?
I've might be able to pick up a 62/12 for cheap, around 650-700. How much power do I stand to gain over the stocker? I've got more than enough fuel(TNT+Pressure) and it sounds like it could really be helpful. I've already searched the forum but can't find anything about real world HP gains. They are only 40-50hp right?

Your horsepower will peak in a higher range of rpm, you will be moving more air, cooler egts, better Drive pressure. Yeah I'd say a solid 50hp and the ability to use a higher level.
Do you have some drivetrain improvements?

I run a HT62/12 and dyno'd pre and post install. (I do all my mods this way now)
went from 504 to 530 rwhp so about 50 hp at the crank.
Things I have noticed 20 to 50 degrees higher EGT's under standard driving and cruiseing speeds but they drop alot faster when you let off of it. With the 6 speed you probably wont notice much in the way of lag. On the top end i droped about 100 degrees at the end of a pass. I have not adjusted the WG yet so only build 39 to 40 psi on the big end. I plan on adjusting it to get around 45 psi and would suspect a bit better on the EGT's.
My truck is a daily in town driver and I have been really happy with the turbo as I cant really afford alot of turbo lag.

My results were similar to what RunninLean saw with his 62/12. I gained 28 H.P. with mine and also saw about a 75 degree drop in EGT'S at WOT. I have my WG set at 40lbs right now. I tow heavy with my truck, so that is why I have it set-up like I do. I like the 62/12 very much. IMHO, it is a very good alternative to the stock turbo with alot of the same characteristics and hardly no lag with the set-up I have on boxes and programmers.

Ofcourse, everything else can handle the power. All I have left to do is stix and a turbo(s). By the sounds of it I would be much happier with a 64/14. What are average gains for a 64?

I'd say about a 10% increase in flow you could gain 50-75hp and have alot more potential. I don't know your mods so can't say for sure.
I know the 13ss housing rocks, it may fit your bill also, it is pretty capable!

I will probably get some "flak" for saying this, but I agree with you, the turbos I have driven with the 14's have very noticeable "bottom-end" lag.
I have driven about 8-10 of them now, and they were all pretty much the same and that is why I got the 62/12. But, as I said, I tow very heavy too, so if I didn't tow, maybe the 14 would work, but I don't think so. Heck, I made that 581 H.P. number with that 62/12, so I really don't think that is too bad.

But how were your egt's looking at that power level?

IMHO,....pretty darn good,.......I saw 1400-1450 at the peak of the run. Not bad for a smaller turbo and if I had just a little water it would be well under that.
