How Much Is Too Much (fuel pressure)

Hey folks,

So i got a KILLER deal on a FASS system. its the 95-90 1007 system for the 05-07 trucks. Only problem i see is the pressure on the thing is 45 PSI.
How mush is too much pressure for these fuel systems? Im affraid of blowing seals and such on the fuel canister.

From what i understand, dodge designs these systems for rather low pressure. Id sure hate to start trashing gaskets and seals by having too much of a good thing

IF there is a line of too much, is there some type of device that could be installed inline with the FASS to lower the pressure? Obviously you cant just narrow the line down cause that'll lower actual flow. Dont want that.

Any input would be awesome. Thanks

45 psi wont hurt the cp3 but will not be good for the factory fuel canister lid. its plastic and will blow off. not sure if the fass you have has the filters or not but if you have to use the factory fuel filter i would either get the billet lid from genos or get another spring for the fass. they have 3 different springs to regulate the fuel pressure.

Well thats good to hear. i just installed the billit lid to mount my fuel pressure gauge I might just get a lighter weight spring from FASS too then, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the input.

I heard rumor that 45 PSI didnt make the vp44's too happy so i wasnt sure if that was a concern with the CP3's

The Duramax pumps have a problem with pressure; Dodge cp3's don't. The advice given above was spot on.

I've been running 45psi from my FASS to my cp3's for a long time now... no issues.

BTW, if you have a FASS (the ones with the filters-- not the HPFP), you can bypass the stock filter housing....

I do indeed have the bypass filter and pump. But i think ill keep the stock filter for good measure. I know the stock only filters to 10 microns, but oh well.

You can get Baldwin 5 and 7 microns as well.

Are those absolute or nominal numbers? In addition, how is the water seperation rating on them?

The OEM fule filter has always been better than anything one could get get for the FASS, just wondering if someone finally came up with a filter as good as the Fleetguard.

The PF7977 is 2 micron absolute and 5 micron nominal from what I remember. That is what I run in my can along with the airdog. I have an FS1000 ready for the suction side, just haven't had time to put it on yet. It is a 10 micron water seperator. Very hard to beat Fleetguard filters. I don't care for the cheeze Airdog water seperator. It is on the suction side but only a screen filter. They could of done better on water seperation.

Did you install the FASS system without a return line to the fuel tank?
