How much is too much? (fuel inlet pressure CP3's)

I upgraded my spring in the FASS 150 to a higher pressure version.
I also changed the filters while I was at it.

So far the pressure has went from 11-12 psi to 24 psi. Is this too much? or am I ok?

Truck seems to run fine and is a little peppier.

Should be fine, some run their pressure in the upwards of 40 Psi with the Walbro pumps with no damage to the CP3.

you can run as much as you want. i ran 60 psi to a stg 2 single. most people dont run alot to the duals because of rail codes and rough running but if it works for you than id keep adding pressure.

What pressure do you run with your dual kit?

Justin,

I have heard of some guys only running 8psi, I think fuel volume is the key more than fuel pressure but I am sure you know that. How are things going these days? Pulling any this season or are you still partially retired?

It all depends on the kit. Some do not mind pressure as much as others. I know on ours I run as much as 25 PSI and see very little increase in the rail pressure at idle. Others have gotten codes when running over 12 PSI with other kits because the rail pressure at idle raises and throws a code

It is about the volume and matching the pressure to hit the fat part of the pump flow. With the walbro, its peak flow is about 20psi... so I ran about 32 psi and at WOT it would suck down to 20-22psi. I've since switched to a FASS 200 and it is running about 45psi to a Floor it stage 3. No issues at all in any circumstance, idle, cruise, WOT. FWIW, John recommended anything around 30 psi.

I ran 21 psi over a year now with no problems. I also have been running the same on Dual for about 4 months.

Don't quote me, but i think the belt driven Medusa pumps upwards of 20psi at idle, and climbs to 100psi at higher rpm.

Pressure is irelevant you could drop to 8 psi as long as you can provide enough flow. Pressure can be to high for the stock filter housing if using the stock housing would keep it under 25psi.

I have a 3/8" pickup coming out of my tank to my Walbro (with stock spring setting), then 1/2" line after the bypass regulator running up to my GDP 2-micron fuel filter then to my dual cp3s. My DiProcol guage reads from my bottom cp3 and shows 16psi and only drops to 14-14.5psi at full throttle. Rail pressure jumps right up to 24.5+kpsi and holds strong so I'm assuming I'm getting enough fuel (but then, this is just for my small Flux 2's).

I have an Airdog150 sitting in my garage that needs to get installed. I'm curious to see if the larger pickup and having 1/2" line all the way from the tank to the cp3's with slightly higher fuel pressure is going to increase performance. I honestly don't think it will, but I'd like to get it installed for the fuel/air separation.

I'm headed to the track this weekend with my current setup. I'm sure I'll go again once I get the Airdog installed, so hopefully that will provide some comparison numbers. I'm also hoping to get to Moonlight Diesel to dyno this setup. Maybe I will do one with the Walbro and then one again later with the Airdog to compare numbers there, too.

is anyone running the eliminator system or a fuel system with an arsen mod or "bag of parts" i have mine set at 15psi idle than when boost hits its boost referenced from there...would you turn up pressure or no?

It kinda depends what pumps you have. I know the d-max pumps don't like the pressure. The cummins pumps can handle lots of pressure.

Fuel Pressure

Just remember if you have 2 psi or 100 psi at WOT you are supplying more fuel to the the injection pump than it can use. Now if you go to 0 or vacuum then you have a problem.

Mine runs at 19 PSI at idle and 12 PSI at WOT so I'm still pushing more fuel to the injection pump than it can use.
