I've done some searching and found this thread, Im thinking I may go this route and upgrade the VB fairly soon, then do the TQ a little later on.

I had my juice on my first 06 for a year. Drove it on 3 all the time and never had a problem. Traded that 06 for an 06 quad cab and drove it on 1. lost second gear in less than three months.
I found a local guy to replace the front band to fix second gear and install a new VB w/ shift kit for a little over 800 parts and labor. (using the existing electronics since i just replaced them trying to fix second gear)

If you tow heavy, that is when it will get ya. Driving like you have some sense helps also. It is actually only a matter of time before you toast the tranny. Driving stile has everything to do with it.

i would like to know which TQ and VB should I get. I dont want to add any more power than what I already have. BDTD, exhaust, and intake are my upgrades. Would I have to do any more tranny mods besides the TQ ans VB.

Trannys seem to be hit or miss
I know someone that has an 04 with 60 hp injectors, Hot Juice, 62/14 turbo, and 5" exhaust that still has the stock tranny. And he rods the crap out of it. Actually blew the turbo not too long ago.
I have an 03 HO/48RE with the Smarty Junior. Set it on the 100 hp setting. I also installed Goerends Valvebody. Don't tow much. When I do its only about 2000 lbs. I am also pretty easy on it and don't beat on it.
Knock on wood, I have had good luck.
That being said, I'm saving for Goerend's triple disc converter.
The valvebody seemed to make a nice difference and is definitely worth it IMO!

Do you tow with this set up? Or do you switch the smarty back to stock? I'll be pulling around 5k or so.
