How much power can the stock tranny hold? (06 auto 4x4)

Ok so Im about to reprogram my 06 cummins and i obviously want the most power i can get, but i dont want to have to rebuild my tranny and upgrade my turbo and stuff. I really like the edge juice with attitude as its adjustable on the fly, shows all the stats of the engine, and has a built in turbo timer. I've heard that any more than 100hp added and ill need to upgrade my tranny. I will be taking this truck to the strip occasionally just for fun with the guys. So any recommendations or suggestions? Thank you.

Some guys have had their transmissions hold up over 100 HP, most have eventually started to slip them (and once slipping their demise seems to accelerate very quickly). The Edge will most likely put you over the 100 HP level, and with you wanting to take the truck to the strip, you're a definate candidate for a modded trans....

Keep the tranny serviced and maintained; 70 HP max for longevity. The REALITY is that no one can tell you how long or how much HP it will hold. I would advise you to get an upgraded VB which will help your tranny quite a bit. If your gonna head to the track and strip your truck and/or you drive it hard with the extra power....then you will be on borrowed time with your tranny.

VB= Valve body.
TN Diesel... From personal experience I have driven 100,000 miles with a stock trans and a smarty on 90HP. That said, I do not dirve like an idiot and race away from every stoplight. If your truck is going to see track duty, be very careful as the will increase your chances of failure many times. They do not like boosted launches in stock form, resist from doing that. There are some who do this but there are many many more who have tried and failed with costly repair.
There is not really a non-costly way to get an upgrade for your transmission.
Valve body and torque convertor will run you about 1500-1700 and then labor if you cannot do it yourself. I assure you that if you look at the stock flex plate and a billet one you will break your arm getting the money out of your pocket. (Another 400.00) The stock one is so flimsey. If you are serious about keeping your truck, there are many quality transmisson builders, and IMHO just bite the bullet and do it right and forget it. I have had my Gorend
transmission for 25,000 miles and LOVE IT!! It changes the truck completely and I never worry about painting a little pavement every so often, I know my trans will hold. There is a lot of peace of mind with the purchase.

This question has been asked a million times.
The honest answer is NONE.
The stock trans. can't hold stock power if you drive it hard.
Before you beat the truck make sure you have the trans. rebuild money in the bank, otherwise you are going to be out of the truck for a while.

Just my .02

Guys, I'm kinda in the same situation, is there a price diffrence in a built tranny if I blow mine before I buy a built one? as in will I loose my core charge? Also whats the price range for a built trans?
Mine was acting bad untill I changed 7 quarts of oil and the filter, now it acts like new for the last 2K miles. I added 2 quarts of Lucas stop slip also.
