How much faster spool up with a cam (vs injectors)

A cam is definitely on my to-do list. Who did a cam at once with no other mods? How much faster was spool up & EGT changed? I hate smoke. I drive in the city 95% of the time and don't want to attract the attention from the fuzz. So I don't want to do injectors (at this time).

I guy who had work done on his truck at my Diesel guy's shop had a cam & Spearco intercooler done at the same time. He said spool up was totally faster and EGT's were totally lower. He runs an HTT62/65/13ss (I think it was a 65).

Just lookin' for tips. I will have a new turbo within' a month.

Thanx.

If reduced smoke is most important that cam will beat the injectors if thats what your askin. I havnt done the cam yet but I can tell you I would wait until you get tha turbo on till you do injectors.

Cam alone I was told 100 egt drop possible. I never got that from Dom just that it would be lower compared to stock.

If you're going for more power then I think injectors are what you want. I don't think the cam by itself will give you much (if any) additional power.

I know injectors made a huge difference in spool-up on my truck, and the smoke doesn't seem any worse than what it was.

I agree with you but it sounded like he was lookin to reduce smoke more than anything. You are right becouse injectors give you more overall power at any rpm.
