Need to know, would like to get up to 600 HP someday, just wondering if it's going to be something that you are constantly throwing money at.
Thanks

ive got 16k miles on mine give or take and no problems that I know of. I dont try to break it but I dont run it easy all the time either. I would think if you maintain the trans it would last for a while but anything can be broken when you alot of power

I think itll all come down to how you drive it.
I know friends that have had "built" transmissions in their 4x4s go out in a matter of months because they were hard on them. Just cause its built to handle the 700hp dont mean it can handle your right foot or short temper....

That said I have not been able to break my Ultimate with IE fat shafts. I daily drive pretty close to 800hp and take it to the track with 2 huge shots of nitrous at around 1000hp. My 60' times are in the 1.6's....This by itself will eventually roach a weak trans. I keep a close eye on the trans fluid and every now and then I cut apart the remote trans filter checking for clutch material. The first time clutch material shows up I will pull the trans and send it in for a refresh....Nothing lives forever in a 7500 pound truck with much over 750Hp.

Winner winner chicken dinner!
Their are trucks with 900-1200 hp running around with the same trans you can buy. Its all about knowing the limitations, you can all out flog these things and be fine. But you can also break the best billet shafts by being a bone head. Pick a trans and talk to your builder about the do's and dont's and it should last you a long long time. The last thing I worry about in my truck is my trans.

One thing to remember, you can wreck the toughest tranny with 500 hp, if you are hard on it, or run without any tq management on. Tq management is your friend if you want your tranny to live

My transmission has close to 70k on it. The first 10k around 480rwhp, the next 35k with a little over 500rwhp and the last 25k with close to or over 600rwhp. It has seen a lot of hard 4wd track launches over the last 3 1/2 years and is still doing fine. Michael keeps telling me it is time to tear it down and freshen it up, but until it give me problems I just make sure it is serviced correctly.

almost 50k with my Ultimate Trans w/ Opie Fat Shafts...at 750 hp plus...
I don't think I am going to have a problem with this one...
At 575-620 hp in the past with another traqnny I have had three 40-50k intervals before massive breakage.

Like the others are saying it is all in how you drive it. At 800hp your truck is basically like a race truck. Race cars depending on different things can go anywhere from a week on a tranny to a whole season. The more you drive it hard the shorter the life is going to be. Also the type of friction that is used can really have an affect on how long it will live. The softer the frictions, the shorter the life. Servicing can also determine the life of the transmission. The harder you use it, the more you have to service it to look after it.

well we got about 20k miles and about 150 1/4 mile passes out of mine, right at 700hp, running the hell out of it lol. you know, towing 18klbs, 4wd burnouts that kind of stuff. When it was pulled apart all it needed was new clutches and we are back beating it up. :}

60,000 miles on my full billet Stage VI ATS Transmission. I dyno and drag race the truck alot. Like the Members said, taking good care of the tranny and keeping the fluid changed is very important.

I have 130,000 on my DTT and it still purrs like a kitten.
But remember, it's not how much hp you have....it's how often you use it ALL!
I can leave my truck set to full power and still go all week and not hit WOT power.
Other than going to the Drag Strip and occasionally playing hard on the street, I probably spend 98% of my miles at no more than 400 hp.
As mentioned above, it's all about how hard you drive it on a regular basis, including heavy towing.
An abused tranny can need refreshing every 20-30,000 miles. I hope to get 200,000 - 250,000 +/- out of mine.
