How high is too high?
Hey guys. I have a question regarding EGT's and boost and fuel pressure. What are typical numbers I'll see on a stock truck? I just bought a gauge set and would like to know what's normal so on the test drive I don't scare the crap out of myself !
Also, when towing I expect these numbers to go up some. How high can they get before I need to slow down/pull over/bail out and run for dear life?
So far I'm totally diggin' the new ride. Everyday its a fight to keep myself from ordering something new! Right now I'm oh so close to calling Quadzilla and ordering the Xzillaraider! Its a good thing they are closed right now 'cause I'm having a moment of weekness...

I personally will back out of it at around 13-14 and don't like to run to long at 12. However my freinds race truck has 20 for short periods of time but he every mod imaginable and then some.

And do I have to worry about the boost getting to high? I ask because my brother tells me he's not supposed to let his '06 powerstroke exceed 20 psi boost (I think he's being very conservative) when pulling his 14,000 lb 5th wheel.
I'm just trying to educate myself so I can spot trouble before its too late. Thanks!

i really dont know i was told a few years ago that 1450 is it but not 4 sure , let me drive a few more miles and ill tell when mine melts down, something has to brek probaly soon, and on that powerstrokes boost its probaly because of the head studs, my dad, grandpa, and to of my friends have blown head gaskets from an 04-06, i dont think the head studs are very stought

I have pegged mine at 1500+ with only the mods in my sig, no melt down yet and my boost has hit 42+ on more than one occation. I hauled 9 4wheelers on a gooseneck to texas and back and with it set on 60 I hit 14-1450 a couple of times.

Seriously though i hit 30- 32 lbs of boost stock in my 05. with my quad race on 60 hp setting i actually see a drop of a good 50 - 100 degrees.

Mine has spiked out at 1565 per my x-monitor with a dirty dirty air filter. Stock it would push into the 1300's but not much higher but mines also an 04 555. My boost would only hit about 25# stock, the highest I read before last night was 30.1#, last night I put a boost elbow on and pushed it up to 34#
