How hard is it to install valve springs?

Third gen should be more accessable than my 2nd gen. Wasn't bad with the Cummins tool which lets you do 4 (each cylinder) at one time.
If you have the service manual... just follow directions and go for it!
If you can change injectors you can do springs! No master mechanic skills required.

Anybody have a part # on that tool?
I don't have the service manual. But I have changed injectors before. I actually got some Flux 2's that need to go in at the same time which is why I'm considering it.
Anybody got a copy of that section of the service manual I can borrow?

Springs are pretty easy, just time consuming.
Just a little FYI: The keepers will NOT fall into the cylinder threw the injector hole, and it is a pain if they fall down the push rod hole.
I usually stuff paper towels in the push rod holes and use a good pencil magnet to get the keepers off and safly into a small cup.
Biggest thing is take your time.
Good luck.

You have to rotate the engine so that the cylinder you are working on is at TDC. The piston holds the valves up. I use a baring tool to rotate the motor.
I use a small piece of wire down the injector hole see when it's at DTC.
You can do 1-6,2-5,3-4, but I still double check for DTC on all of them.

How much are a stronger set of springs and how much to get them installed? I'm not mechanically challenged, just getting older and lazier and luckily have a little more dough than I used too. For now anyway.
