to get the dash off, strattle your console. there is a hook by your right knee. remove the screw and give that hook a tug and im sure you can figure it out from there. the whole piece comes off as one. just work your way around to all the snaps, and be carefull not to break any of them.

Not to hijack, but is that the easiest way to access the cubby hole under the heat/ac controls?

not the easiest. the only. just remove the one screw, and the whole center dash piece comes off as one. there is no other way.

ok well i do have an 04.5, vs your 06, but i dont think the interior has changed any. also i have the SLT package, the only difference i could see is if you had the Laramie with the wood grain, that might be different. but it really is simple. it is horizontally between the radio/climate control and the glove box. vertically it is just below the inner passenger side air vent. when you see the hook, look above it, up under the overhang, and there is the screw. good luck.
