One of my buddies just got a superchips for his cummins. Well He hasn't been around diesels much so he thinks his truck is now just the fastest one on the planet. Well being the nice guy that i am i was happy for him and bragged on his truck. All the sudden he gets the idea to claim that he can whoop my butt in a race now. it got under my skin, but at the time i just gave him a "maybe so" and told him we'd have to find out. Im gonna take him up on his offer very soon but just wanted to get so opinons from you guys about how it'll all turn out.

He's got a automatic with noting but a air intake, exhaust, and now his superchips, its a 4 door long bed 4x4. I don't think a 4x4 launch has ever even crossed his mind though.

I know i have him beat as far as horse power but im gonna weigh more and he's got an automatic. is he gonna come out and suprise me or will the race not even be fair?

Also I cant decide if i should launch in 2nd and have to make an extra shift or start in 3rd and risk having the truck fall on its face.

Hook about a 10 or 12k trailer to each and find a twisty 6% grade

The Smarty certainly on the up levels is much superior to the SuperChips, but looks like neither are really setup to run max levels all out.

I have a friend with an 05 manual with SuperChips and it works pretty well on his.

So the power level that you and him load could come out about the same. That gives him an advantage with the auto.

Could be close either way. It will probably depend on your launch and how well you row.

If he does not know what a boosted launch is you will be in 4th by the time his turbo spools and probably win. You could easily run #6 or #9 with your mods. I have a stock auto and ran #9 for months now with no problems.

Do a 3rd gear launch in 4wd using all three peadls and leave at about 15psi and put the handshaker to work You should get him. your truck only wieghs about 400lbs more. If you catch him on the freeway at about 60 to70 you'll smoke him literally

Hopefully ill get a good hard launch. Im bankin on him not knowing how to build boost or get a good take off. I usually don't put much stock in racing but i really hope i can take him cuz he's so arrogant about it.

This is prolly just me looking for some confidence but maybe the beta version i have with the added pressure will give me a little advantage

LOL i like the idea of hookin up to a trailor and seeing what happens though. or maybe just hook up to him and see who can walk off

Talk him in to doing a race from a rolling start. Say 20 or 30 mph then run it up to about 70. Go practice beforehand. Find what works best for you. If you can eliminate a shift by going from 30 to 70 instead of 20 to 70 then make that part of your conditions.

Most anything can walk all over me from a stoplight but it gets a lot easier when rolling.

Then explain to him some things about power and how he has an advantage with the auto. Then, as bad as it sounds, go let him hand it to you from a dead stop.
