You can pull the black elbow off the turbo compressor housing, and youll see a steel cone lookin thing inside of the turbo lip. Its about 3/4" accross with a snap ring holding it to the turbo, pull that ring off, and the cone (sliencer) will fall right out.

for my intake i removed the plastic section with the baffles and replaced it with flexible clothes dryer exhaust tube(aluminum). i still have the silencer ring in and it whistles loud....my turbo speaks loud!! it goes weeeeee!!!
ps. only cost me $10 and i still have 3ft left over to share with my other diesel driving friends

I think all of you are blowing a smoke screen! I have taken my ring out - then replaced the baffle with a alum tube.. still no turbo singing dixie
I really don't think the white insert on the 45 will do the trick!
all u turbo singing

whistlin' dixie
Yeah - I wish you could hear mine, too
I didn't notice the whistle get any louder through the aeroturbine or cat-shell, nor did it make a noticeable difference when I removed the silencer ring
However, after I took off the entire pre-turbo intake system - I could really hear the turbine at idle... didn't drive it that way though
I figured the less stuff in front of the turbo inlet, the more airflow and whistle I'd get, so I made the super BHAF: with only @ 10" from the air filter inlet to the turbine blades - it's the most efficient design possible.
Besides, I sure like the reaction I get when I pop the hood!
Check out my pics...
