I have a Goerend but if I had it to do over again I would probably try out DTT.

I'm pushing $8k in my Goerend only to have it die on me a couple of days ago with 48,000 miles on it. I've always babied my transmission and my truck does not push big power at all (I run a smarty on 3 usually). While Goerend will cover the tranny, I'm out the $$ for shipping (both ways) and install of the replacement. With that kind of money invested, then this money going back in after only 48k, I'd have been better off to go with a stock tranny.

I probably would. I don't really get any use out of it as I tend to forget it's there. I have had a problem with a big footed mechanic jerking the power wire out of it and causing a check engine light and the truck to shift funny, but it does eliminate the 1-2-1 shift that used to pretty much drive me insane.

Why would you have a 1-2-1 shift problem with a brand new Goerend transmission?

That's my problem with the Shift Enhancer. I think it is designed for stock transmissions. Even Craig said they just leave it on one setting and forget it. Well if you just leave it, why not set the trans up at that pressure and be done with it?

I'm leaning towards NOT putting it on.

The shift enhancer just implements a different pressure ramp that is more aggressive early to eliminate the shuttle shift. You can simulate a lot of that by bumping the TTVA motor 1 tooth. If you teach yourself to drive with a heavier foot initially then back off as the trans upshifts the shuttle is a non problem.

The other is just chase it and try things until it eliminates or mitigates it.

I have ATS stage 2 transmission. Yes the transmission did shift hard, new. I have roughly 3k on the transmission with about 600 of those miles towing my 5th wheel from Denver to Steamboat springs and back. After towing, the transmission shifts a lot nicer. I did upgrade the flex plate, and input shaft to billet. So, for the moment I am a ATS fan.

Can't say anything bad about the other guys, but I love my Goerend.
It's been a solid performer and a great platform to build on.
