High Performance Camshafts
I'm just going to throw this out there for comment...............Why is it that you don't hear much discussion about after-market high performance camshafts when it comes to diesel engine mods? Isn't cam timing just as important with a diesel engine as it is with a gas engine? What am I missing here?

A performance camshaft is a great upgrade.
Most of the time people dont talk about them is because it isnt a 20 minute install.
Most dont know or wont attempt to install a cam.
I run a Helix 2 camshaft from www.f1diesel.com and a set of their Sportsman valve springs.
I couldnt be happier with that package.
Benefits is decreased spool time, cooler WOT egt's, and the ability for your engine to breath properly in my opinion.

If you want an honest answer, it's because it doesnt add much dyno proven hp.
Yeah its a great mod and your engine performance is improved like the others said. Alot of people want big gains for big money.
They still add good amount of power just not what people are use to seeing like from a turbo, cp3 mod, downloaders.
It's a top shelf performance mod done by people who will benefit most.

Cams dont add much HP at all in a direct injected Diesel. Well some add a tad, but that is from increased efficiency only.
Why? : Gasser cams add fuel and air. Diesel cams only add air.

A camshaft shines when used in conjunction with other mods, as said above the main point is effeciency. It will allow for more power, especially when you are going big #s.
