Help w/ Nelson on SWB

Picked up a 51" straight flow Nelson Muffler for my 04.5 SWB QC, and am not able to find a shop that can do the install - no one in the Columbia SC area with 4" pipe dies, and I'm told that the tailpipe has to modded to prevent dropping it significantly due to lack of offset on the Nelson. I know NAPA stoks pre-bent/flared 4" pieces, but have no idea what length/shape I need to get. Can someone with this muffler on a SWB (04.5, still has the cat) give me some insight on this? Or, if anyone knows of a reliable shop in central SC that can do the job, that would help. As always, TIA....

You should have enough play with a straight piece to do the job. Cut the OEM exhaust pipe off a couple inches behind the Cat (either side works fine ) and a couple inches behind the muffler. Slide the new muff over the OEM tail pipe (muff is already flared) and then measure the remaining distance for a new straight piece of 4" pipe. Only the motor side will have to be flared...so the NAPA straight 4" with a flare on one end would work. Shove everything together...line it up...and band clamp the three connections. Fab new or cut off the OEM hangers and reuse (weld on). There are also bolt on hangers from Air Flow that may work...but it is real easy to reuse what you have. It will work FINE!

Go to your nearest truck parts dealer and look at their exhaust parts. They will have every coupling, Conector and extensions you could use. May's in Augusta has everything up to 8"
