Help W/ H2's??

SO DO I HAVE TO GO TO A MACHINE SHOPE TO MILL OUT MY WHEELS TO 4.775, OR CAN I DO IT MY SELF SOMEHOW?? I GOT THE WHEELS TODAY AT THE HUMMER DEALER, 5 FOR $216!! NOT BAD, BUT NEED TO GET THEM DRILLED OUT.

ALSO, DO I NEED TO GET THEM SAND BLAsted? or just get them coated good. One shop said yes, and another said he would just put some sort of phospate primer and then powdercoat them??

what to do???

I would get them machined, but I like things done clean and correct. Mine are at the machinist as we speak. $20 per wheel to get them done.

As far as powder coating, my powder coater said maybe, maybe not on the sandblasting. He was going to clean them up in house with his stuff and see how they come out. If need be, he'd blast them, but only if they needed it. If you're not sure about it, get them blasted so they come out smooth as glass. Better safe than sorry, right?

has anyone else done it thereselves? I know I should probably get them machined, but machined, sandblasted, and them powdercoated will be more costly than if I would have gone to discount tire. I like the h2's but there are some cooler wheels for just a bit more if I spend all of that. $130 for powder coat, $20+ for machine, 25 for sandblast, $216 for wheels, so Im just seeing what corners I can cut if any!

You can use a 4.75" hole saw and a Hole Hawg, and just lay it in the center. Let gravity do the work. It may not look pretty when you're done, and you may have to use a Dremel a bit, but it will work.

I just used a die grinder and bought a 1/2" bit to open up the hole to the desired size.

what is a die grinder? Im not familiar with that one. So to get it done correctly, I might want to take it to a machineist? There isnt much room for error it looks like

So how do you use the die grinder? What technique did you use? Did you just go around in circles and try and take off the same amount all around or what?

What would be the best way to do it yourself? The cheapest IVe found is $35 a wheel?

Use the 4 3/4" hole saw if you are comfortable with using a Hole Hog drill. It is quick and easy. Do a search and you'll find my more detailed explanation. Works great.
