O i need to install one of these. All it says on the Smarty USB Driver install guide is to disconnect from the internet, plug the smarty in, click no on the new found hardware, click install from a specific location, and search for the best driver

got the mads website madselecronics.com. In the downloads section there are multiple files, you need
1. a driver file for windows xp or 2000..dont use the one that says not recommended.
put that in a folder you will remember when it asks you where to sae it to
then double click on it and when it opens click on extract that will pull the files down to a folder again that you name. when you plug the smarty in and it looks for software to intall the device you point it at the second folder u just created. That should do it when it says hardware successfully installed.
then you have to go get the usb upadte pgm this is the thing that you run to get a file put onto smarty, you also need the smarty softare itself. one you down load that then you can have the updater put that on the smarty.

Did you download the USB driver to a local folder? If so run the new hardware detect and do not select the recommended in the wizard, bypass that and go to manual install and using the browse find the .dll file that you downloaded and unzipped in the folder you created.

FYI: IF any of yall have had Bullydog updating programs on your computer, delete all of those files and items associated with it. The smarty uses some of the same drivers to update.
(Ramwheelsby taught me this, maybe he can chime in here for more help)

Are you double clicking on the file you want? If you single click on the file does the file name appear in the file name box? What driver are you running?
