Help me decide on a tire size please...
Ok the truck is in my sig. I just got a set of 18x9 Pro Comp rims with 4.75" back spacing. (I know they will stick out so lets not go there) THe truck has no lift on it now but will be getting a leveling kit like a Lorenz later down the road. I cant decide between a 285/65-18 which is like a 33x11.5 or a 305/60 which is like a 33x12.5. Which one would rub the least or will there be no difference? Or am i gonna be rubbing like crazy with ether one. Thanks for the help.

I just put on (today) 295/70R/17 Nitto Dura Grappler A/T on my truck. They look great! You can go to a bigger tire than I did because my rims are only 7.5" wide. I paid $820 out the door too with nitrogen fill...

I'm gonna say that it will be really really close with no leveling kit. 4.75" backspacing on a 9" wheel is gonna put them out there and has alot of potential for fender rub. With a Lorenz leveling kit and the tire wheel setup in my sig I have about 3/8" to 1/2" max of clearance to the fender at the closest point during a turn.

Without it, he will probably have some issues, but should be fine with the leveling kit...

I would also like to edit... after going out and taking an actual measurement, I have almost 1" of clearance, not what I previous stated in my earlier post. But I still think it will be very close for the set up Hotrod is looking at.

I have 17- Inch Pro-Comp Wheels 8--Wide
With 305- Pro-Comp Tires , I have a Fabtech 4.5 Inch Lift, If Your going to be Running Only a 2" inch Leveling Kit Run the 285"s It Will Look Clean with them and the Truck will perfrom daily driving task at its best, and you will have a slightly stronger pull going up hills vs larger Tires. Keep it simple keep it clean, plus you will save on Tire expense/ Save Fuel .
Biggers Not Alway's better.
