HELP!!! I don't know whats going on!!!!

I was just driving down the road about 3 block from my shop and the truck didn't seam to be running right. When I got to a stop light at a complete stop my egt's started to climb untill 800 and would keep going but I put the truck in park and they started to go back down, and it runs rough in drive but not in N or park.... *** I finshed driving it back to the shop but I have no clue what is going on.

Also when I turn the truck off I hear kind of a grinding noise from under the truck.... SO maybe tranny went poof?

the tranny going south will not affect egt's unless the engine is under a load. was the rpm above idle when you were stopped in gear?

check the harmonic balancer(crankshaft pulley) to ensure it's tight. then check your torque converter bolts.

Yes check those bolts... grinding sounds are never good. Sometimes the bolts back out and start to wreak havoc...

dont forget the balancer, if its loose, your tone ring will be dancing around and confusing the timing on the truck. you also dont want that balancer coming off at speed!!!!! that would be ugly
