HELP FP gauge install!!!!

Well i just helped a buddy of mine install a fuel pressure gauge in a 2003 dodge ram 6spd 4x4. well i get it all done and on his way home he calls me and tells me it is making a weird noise. I tell him to bring it back and let me hear it. Well he comes back and revs it up for me and at first it sounds like the fuel is trying to force the air out of the steel braided line. He then tells me it gets worse as he drives.

I go for a very short ride and hear what he is talking about. To me it sounds like as he gets on it the electronic part of the cp3 opens up to let more fuel in. It only does this when he gets into it, and it sounds electronic.

Anybody else have a 03 with a FP gauge that can hear the same if they really listen?

I told him not to worry but he is a worry wart so i told him i would let him know.

Did you use a fuel isolator or needle valve or both (or neither)?

all we did was go straight from the injection feed line to the fuel pressure gauge. I figured there was no need for a needle valve as the pulsations where not as bad as a12v. and we did not need an isolator for an additional 100 dollars. Diesel is not that combustable!!

Well, I think that is the cause of your issue.

Well, yeah, Flash Point is over 125* but do you really want the mess/smell? And if it is spraying (fine particals), it is easier to light off.

The gauge reads 10psi maybe 11. It is a 100 psi gauge which is all we could get to match is other gauges and it still be mechanical.

The sound sounds like an actuator being opened for more fuel when he really gets on it. That is what i think it is. There absolutly no pulsations from the gauge, we used the steel braided line from summit for it, i dont know if that makes a difference but the gauge does not move onless he is really into it.

Once again i am not worried just trying to find out what it is to calm him down.
