Hellwig rear anti sway bar update

For everyone waiting for a rear anti sway bar, I just got off the phone with Hellwig. This is for 03-04 2500 and 3500 SRW, they will be shipping in 7-10 days. The part number is #7658. Don't quote me on that, but that's what the rep said. Anyways, I'm excited they finally have something coming.

Sorry for the ignorant question, but do you have any general info? Benefits of the sway bar, cost, ease of install?

Benefits are less sway when carring loads such as a camper. The truck will handle better better in the corners, loaded or not. I would guess cost is $150-$200. And installation can't be any harder than the ones I've installed in the past. Pretty EZ.

Anyone get this and install it yet? I am concerned about the clearance around the Differential Cover, since I have installed the Mag-Hytec Diff Cover, will I have enough clearance?

Just thought I would refresh this topic.

Has anyone gotten the Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar for their 11.5 axle? I need to know about the clearance around the pumpkin.

For those looking for them Summit Racing sells them for $170, I got a local shop to match the price, so I am ready to go order it. But, am really concerned about the fit. Guess I may have to be the Guinea Pig.

There is roughly 6 to 8 inches of clearence around the differential cover. Also try Macs Spring Shop in Highland Calif. 1-800-585-5117. Got mine for roughly $150.00 shipped. I know they have a website just can't find it at the moment.

Rear sway bar discussed on TDR several months ago.Basicly the 03 truck up has longer springs etc. Some owners had air bags and sway bars on their 01 and 02 trucks but said the 03 up handled and drove with a slide in camper BETTER then their older models did with air bags and sway bar.Comments were tote whatever your going to tote and try the truck before spending money on sway bars and bags,Several commented they wern't needed.

OK, call me the adventurer, I dropped the $170 to be the Guinea Pig and find out how it fit with the Mag-Hytec on. Fits GREAT! Plenty of clearance.

I haven't thrown the camper on the truck yet, but the handling empty is notceable better. Turns are much smoother and control in the turns is excellent.

I did not care for the hardware that came with my bar and the instructions were a little weak. The install was going along like clockwork. I thought this would be the easiest thing I had ever done, then on the last bolt I had to install the locking nut on, the nut stripped the bolt!

So with my trusty tap & die set, I cleaned up the bolt and nut, and finished the installation. Other than that, it was an easy install.

Nice info. I have been wondering way no rear sway on this thing? It handles most things great. I have a toy box and it's good until I put my Jeep in it. I get a little sway with it. Not bad, but the rear sway will I'm sure be a good thing.

I never think about taking photos while I'm under there. I will get back under it tonight, hopefully, and get some for you.
