I hear ya, and all but its not Cheap insurance, just insurance. The price is such because "They Can" and its "Diesel" so it must be expensive! The engine im putting together will prob. see 60+ lbs every sat. night so YA ill do studs, but wont enjoy paying for them. Im prob. not the only one that thinks their grossly over priced, i could see 175.00-250.00 range but no way of justafying 500.- 100.00 dollars for 26 studs and nuts. Period

yeah I understand...they are not cheap..but compared to a rebuilt motor they are cheap......yeah your right tho it still hurts the wallet...but all fun sports and hobbies do!!!

Totally, I can get new ARP rod bolts, head studs, and main studs for one of my big block Buicks for a tad less than $250 (Summit racing). All that stuff together probably does not weigh as much as just the head stud kit for the Cummins. But I still want to whine about it.

I have installed many main and head studs in big block and small block chevy's. They are MUCH less money, but there are SO many more big and small blocks out there. Just like anything else in any industry. Sell a whole bunch of one product and the price is likely to be less that selling some of another product. I think it's called supply and demand.

I will probably go with the custom age 625+ studs. They are expensive but I like the fact that they are resistant to corrosion and like stated above it's insurance. I was just wondering if there was a way for to check if the stock bolts were torqed to spec.

Sure put a torq. wrench on them and see what they were before you tare it down, thats exactly what i plan on doing. I suppose i also wanted to whine a little about the price--you know what, it didnt help any. Their still overpriced, but as already stated, supply and demand... i'll go the 12mm route but can't imagine just anyone running the 1000.00 jobs. Maybe the handful of dragsters running in the 7's and 8's then thier sponsors are prob. paying for them. How many times than not when a H.G. go's that it just hurts the gasket and not the head or block????

i installed my studs in august. did 4 retorques in 2 days. just retorqued saturday when i did my injectors. found 2 had loosened up. just installing them doesnt mean forget about them. just a reminder.
