Boss my 06 held over 875 hp with o rings and standard arp studs. I went with 625s on the 04 because I am running over 100 lbs of boost. Tim

Hey Tim, if you dont mind, how much does it cost to O ring a head? Just the rings, I would send you my head (if I ever blow the HG) so no labor on that part.

PM in you would rather
Thanks

Thanx For the replies. I'm going to put arp 625's in and crank em dowwn! I'm also going to have larger valve seats put in and do some light porting on the exaust side . I might o-ring the head and do a 12v Marine gasket as well. Not sure at this point. Christian I would research this with Your truck to rule out a bad HG. I'm Glad I'm at this point and it can get laid to rest. It was driving me and my poor wife nuts. My tell tail signs were the cooling system loosing pressure after I pressurized it with a hand pump and a psi gauge and the heavy white smoke on start up that burned my eyes. I hope the motor is still ok And I'm done running the truck until I pull the head(I don't want to do further damage)
Matt, Like Jay said I will still be going to fall brawl I'll just be in my 24v dually

If any one else knew the whole story behind the work we've done?

I was always told that I have fire-rings, but my block is the only thing that has grooves. I know that because I blew a gasket out with the rings and had to have it redone.

Danny I am running over 100lbs. My Diprocal is 0-100 and is pegged on the dyno.
Firerings do not have to be cut in both the block and head. I have seen both cut or just one or the other . Firerings are steel rings that take the place factory firerings built into head gasket. The factory gasket is usually water jetted out and a mild steel ring is used instead. O rings use a small wire o ring(we use inconel) that dimples or bites into the firering built into the factory gasket. Both systems work if done correctly, but we prefer the o rings for several reasons. Tim

Chris, keep us updated on what you find when you open her up. I hope all is well inside and the gasket didnt take anything else with it.

Good deal! I pulled my N2O tank to fill it last night. I may be in the same boat as you soon... popped HG. I ran water with the N2O the other day and it was nuts. I bet that creates a cylinder spike like no other. I think the truck is going to get strapped down with that combo to see what it does.

So the Opie bypass isn't helping with that?

No, Chris had spewing coolant and issues before he got the bypass, in fact he hasn't installed the bypass, he is making plans for pulling the head and building it back better, stronger. The bypass is on my truck and works like a charm, I have seen 60-65 psi on multiple hard, hard WOT runs and not one drop of coolant has been lost. My head is also O ringed though, Tim Barber did my head work, and it is holding up very well. Jay

It helps...problem fixed...as in the coolant is NOT going into the overflow.

But I have no idea if the head is lifting some...

Seperate deals....same results.

Opie's or anyones else's bypass is an inportant product to increase water flow around 5 and 6.
