Head Gasket POOF..

I've had my set of compound turbos on for a little while now with stock head bolts.. no problems.. Put on Dual cp3's for a month, no problems at 55 lbs of boost... Put in wicked's injectors 90+ and arp's, head gasket blew in less than 5 mins.. everything torqued to spec, adjusted rockers .010 and .020... what went wrong?? maybe the gasket was that close to going and interrupting it with the different torque did it in? haha o well, I definitely should've been a better advocate of preventative maintenance before the compounds when on.. oring, port and polish now.. btw, those injectors woke up the sleeping beast!!! and it was a runner before.. any comments??

How did you install the studs? Remove one bolt, install one stud and torque? I did mine that way (only I bottom tapped each hole) and mine's held up to 90psi with out much problem. By "much" I mean i've only pressurized the coolant once and blew some out the rad cap and lost the heater. I refilled the system and it's been fine for 3 months now. It held perfect for about a year until I was "playing" and got carried away! haha

yup, exact same way... i did notice on quite a few of them, there was a air pressure release.. seems like it already build up in the bolts.. some were oily and some were dry and rusty.. i think it was on the verge of going before hand.. Im in pretty good with a lot of people, doing it correctly wasnt the problem.. just seems like i did all of that work for nothing now! ha

I have done a lot of engines and I have never reused a head gasket. Once compressed that is it.

Mine was the same way. Most of them had pressure, none rusty though. I ran just the 2.6" single with no more than 50psi of boost before the studs. Nice thing about the MLS CR gaskets they will reseal unlike the 24v versions, although it seems your way past that! haha

Oh I agree however he did his just like mine and doing it one at a time you never take the pressure of of it. I'd never remove all the bolts at the same time and try and reuse it but mine's held up quite well at high pressures doing them one at a time.

Could be worse, you could pull the head off and it looks like this!

wow!!! you know, i just spent a couple hours preparing to take the head off.. removed top turbo, fuel rail etc.. once i got to the head itself, it almost looks like an injector is leaking up through. i made sure to remove the old copper washers before i put the new ones in.. but, the number 4 injector almost looks like its clean, and the oil in the small ports below it looks fairly runny.. would a bad injector cause the truck to run like a blown head gasket? (excessive white smoke, run very rough) and if so, would it still leak oil and fuel mixture?? it has no sweet odor at all, such as the antifreeze smell..what should i do? and how do i detect if it is a bad injector??

doesn't look like i'm loosing any coolant... i'm more edged to it being an injector... which would be great, alot cheaper

White smoke on a diesel usually means too much fuel. If the fluids look good there is a good chance the head gasket is ok...i would look at your injectors.
