I am going to buy one of the ATS plugs and try drilling and tapping it. I have already tapped the the bypass hole and put a set screw in it so I do not have to worry about bleed off.

With the ATS plug there is no chance of bleed off. All passages are blocked & sealed with o-rings. Drilling & taping the aluminum compressor cover is very easy & the boost elbow should be 1/8 npt... the same tap as most EGT probes.

I was going to drill and tap the ATS plug for aesthetic reasons. Would make it look more like a "factory" installation. Just me I guess.

Hmmm, by email they quoted me $65 for the plug and seals. Anyone elso purchase one and if so how much did you have to pay?

I just looked at my last invoice & the plug was $46.35 & the 3 o-rings were $5.70. Looks like the price is going up.

A SMARTY Jr. would probally work well for you & have lower EGT's than the EZ.

Just to g ive you guys some reference:

BD Super B Single: 57/65/14
BD Super B Special: 64/71/14

Most HE351s can be found for $200-$400, with very little miles on them

Most aftermarket turbos will cost $1300-$2000ish

The HE351 is a very nice upgrade, for those 03-04 owners on a tight budget, who want more performance with some mild mods.

This is a great thread, with alot of useful info!

elbow is the cast piece that attaches to the turbo. Downpipe is the pipe attached to the elbow..
