Drove my wifes '00 Exploder home from the shop last week. 66K miles and 2 leaky head gaskets, thank heaven for extended waranties. Would have cost me $1900! Christmas would have been mighty slim this year.....
Do have an old 89 ranger I drive to work, fish and hunt out of until I can get a few things paid off and get the cummins. It's still going strong.

I was actually thinking about buying a left-over 04 F250 wtih 6.0.
Went online and did the Autobytel thing. Contacted dealership, ended up talking to someone else besides the Autobytel Rep. Ended up driving down 50miles to the dealership and within 1.5 hours walked out.
1) Salesman tryed to tell me Ford didn't make a F250 in SuperCab.
2) Salesman tryed to tell me only way to quote a trade-in value was to know what my payoff is.
3) 6.0's OCI is 3000 miles at 15 quarts a pop.
4) 6.0's only getting 12-14mpg....I'll stay with my little 6 cylinder, thank you.
It's pretty sad when a Dodge owner knows more about Ford Trucks than the Salesman.

My idea of driving a Ford,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Actually taking it to a buddy's house to swap motors,,,,, the wife wants it back on the road. At least it will get her out of that Chevy Camaro!

Funny!
Wife had a 00 camaro, never had a problem, still a piece I admit, but what do you expect for ~$17K new. Next we found a low mileage 00 Explorer. That sucker has been in the shop at least 5 times. I’m waiting for the tranny to puke any day now. Brand aside I guess you take what luck throws at you. Especially when you have to buy used.
I personally will never ever buy a ford again. I wouldn’t have in the first place if the deals weren’t so great.

That 86 F-150 was bought in a package deal when we bought a used 26' low-top 5er at $5,000 for the combo. The truck with 86k on it already, ran great for about 5 yrs and 70k miles more until it lost oil pressure. I got well worth the money out of it up till then. I got $8,000 off the 5er when we traded it in on the 30' Cougar, so I figure it paid for itself. The body on the F-150 is still in good shape and I would rather have the wife riding in that instead of that butt-dragging Camaro. The Camaro with a 5spd and 3.8 V-6 has been pretty reliable other than it likes to eat up coils. Don't know why GM mounted them right over top of the exhaust manifolds, plus most of the motor is up under the firewall.
All said and done,,,,,,,, I haven't found anything that holds a candle to a Cummins powered Ram!

I know that this is all in fun, but PLEASE don't compare a ford Exploder. Yes they are garbage. It's like comparing a YUGO to a BMW (I like to exaggerate).
I Love Ford. I had a Ford bronco for about 10 years and it never visited the shop with the exception of a fender-bender that put a WRX in the junkyard.
Now my 4.5 Ram has been in the shop 4 times for stupid crap like water leak, bad water pump, etc. Maybe this is a bad example, but I am having a hard time reading your comments and agreeing that dodge is more reliable.
Unless you've owned a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge (TRUCK), you shouldn't talk.

Heck, the wifes Explorer is old faithful. Its a 95, has 88k on it and still runs like a top. I've never done anthing to it other that regular maint and synthetic oil. I'm not a Ferd guy, but I can't lie, our Explorer is in my cool book. -Steve
