H2O Pressure

I still think the best way would be a heater control valve in the top radiator hose. just open open the valve when drag racing
I am actually surprised XLR8R does not like this idea...I thought he would love a new lever or gadget mounted to his *** pit
Just given you a hard time XLR8R

Yes, 53, that is basically what I am speaking if. It completely removes all ove the "pressure" off of the block and lets the coolant roll through the system rather than buiding up what is called on this thread "Pressure" If one was to read all of these posts they would look like a chicken with its head cut off! The principle is actually quite simple and it works. You must bypass the stock cooling system and let the good times role. I have not had one bit of trouble out of my system and are running stock head bolts stock eaverything until 'bout 2weeks ago. (Nothing to do with this thread)

... now Mark, you know darn well we designed the BOE kit to deal with the freeze plug issue!
I ran it on the '05 last week to prove up the design's viability with excellent results. Now we're sourcing vendor parts for a tighter package and a trigger that isn't quite so "light"... I really should've mapped the pump's pressure curve myself before spec'ing the prototype parts - but I used anecdotal facts from DTR!
Anyway, pump is mapped and new parts are forthcoming.
p.s. BTW - "cockpit" isn't profane...

I'm confused

I haven't ever passed up an excuse for a new gadget - especially if I get to make it!

I know why you made the BOE kit I was just saying you like gadgets on your dash/cockpit and thought you would like the "drag race lever" on the dash

it is if you spell it as two words

Depending on the how and when the data is recorded I bet you will see spikes up to 100 and steady state in the 60-70 psi range.

I'd guess, under normal conditions, about 25-30 PSI max in the block. At idle and warm, about 17-20. During a race with the stat closed the sky is the limit, er, the blow out pressue is the limit.

Chris, I'm not going to release the BOE kit until I've run the truck with it under abusive conditions (i.e. drag racing- where 3500 RPM WOT is typical)... right now we're waiting on new vendor parts so we can package it tighter.
You've still got dibbs on the 1st to make it into a shipping box!

Man I was just checking out the new diesel power mag and that 1000hp mega...anyway they show a pic of the engine compartment while it is on the dyno and every hose on that thing looks like it is going to blow top radiator hose too witch means the t-stat is open at least a little.
Also do you think it is going to be hard on the engine to build all that pressure and heat and then have a relief valve drain the block when it blows???
seems almost the same as blowing a freeze plug?

couple questions???
how do you map the water pump with the gauge under the hood...you would need to have a load(driving) on the engine to map it right??
tell us what all that piping does???? is it automatic?? do I have to open a ball valve??
is there a relief valve there too??
where does it dump the coolant to??
