H2O Meth

Anyone run water/meth on a '04.5+ common rail with a fueling box?

Specifics on jet sizes, water/meth psi, boost pressures, etc. along with power increases and EGT reductions...

Thanks Matt,

What were the numbers in the power department?

... not really sure how to quantify a "raped date" - other than with 911 !

Here is my experience - see my sig for my truck details.
The instructions in the kit say you can use both 675 injectors with the pump turned all the way up if over 450whp. However, Snow actually installed this same set up on a bone stock '05 in an issue of Diesel Power magazine. They dynoed with good improvements in hp and torque. I decided to install the two big injectors. I can run the juice on levels 1 and 2 and actually feel a seat of the pants difference. On levels 3,4,and 5, I can't really feel it. The truck runs fine when empty, however I have never seen an egt reduction. Back in July, however, I made a trip over the Colorado Rockies towing about 9k pounds and was completely dissapointed and frusterated. If I had the gain **** turned higher than about 10%, the truck would run horrible and dump white smoke. I tried running a higher mix of methanol and that did not help. I called snow and they said I was right on the line to be using both big injectors. I mentioned the stock truck that ehy did an intall on and that mine ran fine unloaded. One guy told me to turn the pump down, and another guy told me to leave the pump and replace one of the big injectors with the smaller one. Here's the thing. I can tow my camper around Nebraska just fine with no issues, so the only way I could test it, is to drive far enough to pull some big hills. Consequently I haven't done any messing with it. The whole reason I bought it was to reduce egts while towing. I have seen no egt reduction, on any setting, towing or not, with any of the mehtanol mixes I have tried.
Here is my conclusion. If you have the time, patience, and a place to test, try it. Some people claim success. Just know that it is not a bolt in and go - at least not for me. I would not spend the money again. I would put it toward a turbo.

hey guys i am going to get all the lniks together for the kit on my truck. you can get the same pump that flows 100psi that snow uses for less than 90 bucks and the injectors for around 2 bucks a piece. and the syliniode and boost switch for 30 bucks all together. other than some clamps and hose from the hardware store that is all i have in it. no dyno number though, and no egt gauge either. but when it comes on it comes on hard. you can use 20 below windshield washer fluid mixed with one qaurt of alchol from wal-mart in the band-aid isle and it makes the 65/35 mix or so for around 3.00 per gallon

here it is www.mcmaster.com go to catalog page 1939 get standard nozzles that flow 4 gph @ 100psi i run two of them but some run one. same site page 420 part number 7876k81 is the solenoid i run and it works great (if you run a boost switch to turn on and off the system for you, you can run a led inline with the power to the solenoid so when it opens the light you place in the cab will come on letting you know if it is on or not, also you can make sure it is not on when idleing). the boost activation switch came from http://www.enginerunup.com/parts/boo...tch/prod_3.php i think a hobbs switch from napa would work also. and the pump that runs it all http://www.pro-spray.com/sprayer_pumps.htm it is the 1.4 gpm @ 100 psi this pump will pressurize the line then when you shut the soleniod it will automaticaly shut off then come back on when it is opened and also won't burn up if it runs out of water. as for the tank i just mounted everything in my toolbox in the bed and cut a hole in the top of a 5-gallon can the size of the 3/8 hose to the pump and left the breather on the can open so it can drain easy. well there it is a big water/meth kit for under 140 bucks

Smarty #9 with Quad's Boost Fooler? Sounds like a blast!

I had the water/meth system designed, and eric's info reassured me that I was right on track for the specific parts... I plan on fabricating it before the end of the year. I'm going to make a SS tank where the airbox used to be - hoping for at least a 3 gallon capacity.

Of course you're welcome to come by the shop whenever you're in the area and I'm out there.

If you're going to Baytown in a couple weeks, I'm sure we'll see ya there!
