Grid delete with no codes.....????
Getting a BD X-flow intake elbow, would like to do a heater grid delete I've seen on previous post that when the wires are left unconnected some are getting engine codes. What is the best way to prevent this? As I remember someone also came up with a large resistor to prevent the code is this a good way to attack this problem

It does store a code but it does not illuminate the CEL. If you use your Smarty or a good OBD2 reader you will see it. Since it does not make the light come on, I dont really care about it.

Unhook the wires at the solenoids and at the grid heater. I removed all the wiring too just to clean things up a little. If you just unhook the wiring at the heater and tape it up you risk shorting it out.
I know my truck and one other that keep the code but I now forget what the number is. They are both 05's if that makes a difference.

I wonder if the soleniods can go too? How far back has anyone removed this sytem without issues.
I think I am really at a point I need to lose any restriction in my airflow...no matter how small.

The solenoids are mounted beside the passenger side battery. They have nothing to do with airflow. I believe if you disconnect the solenoids it will throw a code for open circuit.
My intake horn incorporates a heater delete and should be restriction free. I am not sure what your horn is like but I did notice a difference at my power level getting rid of those restrictions.

Mine does not throw a cel and it is all gone. I removed wiring, solinoids, heater and pass. side battery. The code is in the ecm but the check engine light has never lit up. Tim

I get two codes in the ECM from mine being unplugged, but no CEL. I can't remember the numbers but they are Heater Low Voltage 1 and 2. I have the two wires off at the grid heater (obviously) and I have the solenoid unplugged from its trigger wire over on the battery box. All of the wires are still physically under the hood, however.

If I turn my key straight to start in the morning there will not be a SOFT CODE, but if I hesitate at all it will throw a SOFT CODE. SOFT CODE is where the computer see's something abnormal but not enough to throw a CEL. About every 2 months or so I will go in and clear it out!!!
