Got me thinking!
??? So I'm running to the airport to pick up my buddy to go hunting, and I notice a black 03-04 dully behind me. I take off from the light (usually pretty hard) and pull away from this truck. I’m watching it in my rearview and notice a huge puff of black smoke and he’s right back on me. We’re running back and forward through traffic until he finally passes me with a roar (I picked the wrong lane). I noticed in his back window he had a performance diesel sticker so he was obviously juiced up. Here’s my issue, I had the wife with me and she was watching all this unfold. She noticed the black smoke and the roar of the exhaust. She actually thought the roar was from one of the airplanes flying over, but it was this guys exhaust note. Needless to say she was not impressed, and neither was I for that matter with the smoke and noise. I was impressed with this trucks power and acceleration. So is this what I have to expect with any performance (box and exhuaust upgrade) mods I make in the future? He had a six speed and every time he shifted there was a puff of smoke. Maybe it’s a trade off when it comes to performance. What do you guys think? I personally like the civility of the truck when it comes to noise levels and no smoke. Don’t get me wrong diesel exhaust sounds cool, but it just doesn’t conjure up the same feelings as the old muscle cars exhaust. Can I have both performance and civility? I’m interested to hear what you guys have to say.

Re:Got me thinking!
He's running a fueling box: Lots of fuel=More power and some black smoke. Personally I like a little smoke, lets everyone know they are watching diesel power at work! ;D You were probably watching one of ours (DTR member) running by you, there are alot of Texas members ;D-Steve
