goofy fuel pressure need advice on gauge

ive got the airdog 150 thats the 30psi model and the fuel pressure is all over on the gauge. even with 3/4 of a tank of fuel it will go from zero all the way back over to 28psi the back to zero and all over. the isolater is full of antifreeze and the lines are tight ive checked everything. I have a dipricol gauge also and it always held steady with the glacier setup nothing goofy. so my question is can I run fuel straight to this gauge somehow or get a mechanical gauge and run it that way or other guys seeing the same issue. im not complaining or bashing the airdog or anyone just curious how to solve the issues thanks

first thing I would do is get a mechanical gauge and test the psi with the other FP gauge...then you can rule out the gauge or at least narrow it down some...

Use an air compressor to check the guage. It won't be perfect, but you can see if it will hold pressure. I found my isolator to be bad a while back, so I just run fuel into the cab. I've been doing it for over a year.

I do have isspro, I don't know how yours work...

Hi jwb600,
How long have you had the AirDog on your truck? What engine do you have? Did this just start? Did you install the high flow suction tube? And??? Give us a little more info on this and we will stand a better chance of helping you straighten this up. You can also call PureFlow direct at 573-635-0555 for more help. Give me a call, we will post the answer back on this thread.

Thanks,
Charlie

I talked to one of you when I bought it because the instructions were foggy on the fuse panel. the airdog has only been on a few months and may only have a couple hundred miles on it. I installed the pickup tube in the tank like instructed. the truck is 06.5 common rail 5.9L. the line is ran straight to the cp3 and and the system is mounted under the driver door if that would have anything to do with it? like I say im not pointing any fingers I may just need a new gauge or isolater. the problem has pretty much been there since I installed it I think. it mainly done it when the tank was lower on fuel I believe and now it does it all the time. thanks for the help and advice

can you please tell me how you ran the fuel to the gauge without the isolater? or did you just put fuel in it and let it run to the gauge?

could I just use a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in the cab and would it work with diesel fuel? like a 100psi or 60psi mechanical autometer gauge or something like that I could just install under that dash in a cup or mount and run diesel fuel to the gauge? maybe im way off

you can buy a cheap gauge like this.... http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/4ZG22

and check/compare to your gauge....yes you can run the fuel line straight to your gauge in cab....but if it leaked for some reason you would probably never get the smell out of the cab...you could just bypass the isolator and run your fuel line straight to the gauge to check too.I suggest a gauge like I posted..mostly cause they are cheap and you can store it in your tool box and check the FP on other car/trucks too......let us know what you find....if you dont want to buy a gauge I say bypass the isolator and run fuel straight to your gauge you have now.....if the readings are the same you will want to check the psi with w new/different gauge.

Jesse,
Just go with a Westach from Geno's.
The Westach has an electrical sender and eliminates the headache of the antifreeze.

On the delete for my origional LP on my FF canister, it is tapped on the top to allow a FP gauge to be installed there. I just ran the line from there to the back of the gauge. We may have very different setups... They also make a 'T' that you can splice into the fuel line.

I did not have to prefill fuel to this.

I do have the "T" in the fuel line up by the cp3. never had issues with that setup on the 3/8" system

its not priced bad. I may get one of those instead of spending $200 on another fuel pressure gauge im not planning on that.

I run fuel into the cab too...after two isolators in two consectutive winters failed.

Works like a charm...

It is your regulator I bet.
