Good source for transmission parts..

Looks like the tranny is taking a dive in me... Im starting to notice 2nd gear slipping.... It's about time this thing has be running on HP mods since it had 500 miles on it and now is at 105K ... Anyway I was hoping to make it last for a couple months until the temps climb alittle but if I have to do it now then O'well ...

anyway, I plan on pulling the tranny out myself and my dad is going to rebuild it since he just retired (45 year chrysler mechanic) and has nothing better to do . So where can I source a good "soft parts rebuild kit" and who has a decent priced billet input shaft. I plan on doing a build simular to YelloZ28 ( https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...t=Cheap+tranny ) but I will have to freshen up the internals first.

A while back I ran across someone's website that had soft parts kits with better clutches, etc but I can't seem to find it again...

So if you where building a tranny yourself, what/who would you use???

I don't need a full tilt tranny, just something to handle 450-475hp and occasionally tow my jeep around...

Thanks in advance

OK I stumbled across the PACT site and found something like what I was talking about...

So (tranny guys that have built them), what would you do. I plan on a complete overhaul and want the parts on hand before I pull it out. I am not looking for a full race tranny, I want something that shifts firm but not hard, and will hold up to a 400-500 max hp level on a daily driver that doesn't see track, pulls, and occasionally pulls about 7000k on weekends.

So what parts do I need to get freshened up trans, and then add a transgo kit, better convertor, flexplate (and maybe a billet input)?

Is this a good start?

Kit #1HE-48-2

Kit #4NUB

What other parts am I missing???

Thanks in advance

get new bands new billet servos the gm gov pressure solenoid, new solenoids for tc lockup, the rebuild kit maybe a deeper pan, better flexplate billet tc you would prolly be able to get away with a good single disk converter billet input shaft and you should be good. are you going to be rebuilding it yourself? if so i want to see full pictures of the rebuild!

Kind of rebuilding it myself... I'm pulling it out and then helping/watching my dad rebuild it. He just retired a couple months ago, he's been rebuilding dodge trannys for the last 35 years, but he never got involved in modifying them, just rebuilding to factory specs (use to be a mechanic at a chrysler dealership and one of their main tranny guys).. The big thing is that I want to make sure I have everything I need in front of him, because the whole time he's going to be grumbling about how I am messing the truck up and just need to leave the tranny stock... I don't want to be missing any pieces, something not fit right, or need to guess at any specs or special mods that will need to be done...

Upgraded rear Servo with better sealing rings

Upgraded front servo with billet servo cover, or, billet servo which comes with the cover. Both will have better rings to address leakage.

Billet band strut and anchor, billet lever if you feel like it

Front band is not really needed if you fix the front servo leaks, if you want a better one a rigid band with carbon fiber lining would be good

If your looking for smooth shifting, either the Raybestos or the BorgWarner clutches and steels are fine.

Billet accumulator piston and better sealing rings

Replace the rear output shaft support and sprag clutch, drill it for better lube.

Opie input shaft

Goerend single disk with his better custom stator

Laminated flex plate if it strikes you but its not a must.

Get your Dad on the phone with Dave at Goerend and let them talk about it. Guarantee a good conversation will strike up if he isn't too grumpy and the moron and putz comments are keep to a minimum...

That should be drill out the rear support for better lube. There are some places that drilling the holes larger benefit lube flow.
