???Goerend,DTT,ATS for parts???

Need advice???
Vehicle in Sig...w/98000 miles
Truck is mainly a tow rig and some daily driving. I am starting to feel some shuttering while driving on highway under slight acceleration up slight incline. I assumed this was the pressure soelonoid (sp) but spoke with Dave @ Goerend and the way I understood him is that he thought it was converter slippage. Power adder has been on truck since new. Never been above setting 3. I typically pull 15000 lb loads on Level 2.

All other aspects of tranny seem fine. I don't plan on adding more power, I just want more durable tranny that runs cooler and lets me tow and not worry about if its going to leave me stranded with trailer.

Who would you use out of 3 mentioned and what parts would you add to your tranny if you were in my shoes.

Sorry for length of post and thanks in advance.

Who is going to do the install? If you are I hear DTT has a very good deal with their DIY kit. If someone else is going to install it I would say the closest builder to your location, and would lean more toward Gorend/DTT/Htt. Good luck.

Depends on what parts I decide to upgrade. Not getting much help on putting a parts list together. From the way it sounds your vote is for a full overhaul. I was hoping to get away with just upgraded converter and maybe a couple of other things. Not really ready to spend 4k+ on a tranny, now if that is going to be the best in the long run then so be it.

I did my rebuild at 78,000 miles. I went with the triple T/C, new band, valve body and a few other smaller things that Dave recommended. Now I have 145,000 still using the original clutches and other original parts. I'm not easy on my truck by any means.

Where are you located. Having the shop or a good dealer by you is key.

I have been running ATS Transmissions in my Dodge CTD Trucks since 2000 and have had excellent service from them. You can look at my signature to see what power level my trucks are at.

Goerend suggested the Triple converter and billet input shaft. Would this be a good place to start or do i need more?

IMO spend the money and get it all done at once. Then you wont have to worry about it again.

As previously posted some owners have added SOME performance parts and have many miles on tranny now. Just wondering what would be best to add to achieve what I am looking to gain in my 48re.

That's what I'm saying. If you plan on having the truck for some years to come, get it all done rather it still be on stock power or not. Doing little here and there even with stock trans wont last long. I ran a fully built DTT in my old 98.5 for 2 years before I even added any power to the thing. I got great mileage and still a smooth shifting trans. Then when I decided for bigger power I did not have to worry about the trans. JM.02

What will the aprox. difference be in the temperature that a built tranny will run vs. my stock tranny (while towing on HWY in OD 185*).

Get the flexplate too. Adding power will shear that thing to pieces. ATS has been top notch on any questions and such that I have had.

Minimum would be TC and valve body. If you choose a triple disc TC then you will want to get a Billet input shaft. And an upgraded flexplate will be needed. The stock ones aren't that strong. Also a GM pressure governor will help with any shuttle shifting problems.

I went with a Billet DTT with a triple disc, flex plate, Billet input and output with the stock intermediate shaft. Shifts are firm, but no slippage. It shifts best at WOT.
