The 600 has an electrically controlled waste gate. The 555 is boost actuated.

This is a 600 wastegate. You can follow the shaft into the housing and see the disk valve on the end of the shaft (in red) for those of you that have not seen a wastegate.

What does that have to do with the extra boost pressure? What is the reason for the extra boost? Why are the factory turbos being spooled up so high? There has to be a reason as to why dodge increased the boost.

Exactly what does the manifold pressure indicate?

I have 5"exhaust on my truck and my egts and boost are the same. I hit 1250 at wot and it usually spikes at 33 lbs and settles at 27 lbs. When I had the 100hp ramifier in my truck I could get it to hit 1400 and 43 lbs of boost. I took it out because I ran into trans issues. I think the way the waste gate works on these trucks is that it is still boost operated like the older trucks. They have just added a solenoid to block the wastegate when higher boost is required. When I had my box in it would always stay around 20 lbs of boost. It would only go higher if I had the pedal to the metal and would shoot right up. It looks to me that the 600 guys are going to be doing converters and trannys with any mid sized box.

I believe they're all just covers....which is why I don't want to use one.

I don't know about the 03's, but I did an install on an 01 with an a-pillar cover and didn't use the factory cover and had no problems with it. Just shot a screw through it into the metal behind it and painted the screw black. Can't see the screw and it's solid as a rock.
