Can anyone tell me how they ran the wires throught the dash and around what ever they had to do to make it work?? I am trying to not reinvent the wheel if aI can help it. I also don't want to take the whole dash apart if it is not necessary. Oh I forgot I am usint the tripple propod a pillar mount thanks for your help!!

I just finished my install on my 03' 3500 SRW. I used the information on this web site http://i.b5z.net/i/u/265866/i/2003_Dodge.pdf
with some changes. There is another site that shows tapping into the down section on the exhaust manifold.
I bought a mopar performance transmission pan, but had to modify a plate on the inside of the transmission to get it to fit. It included ports (holes) for the transducer and a drain plug and taked about 1 more quart of fluid, but states in holds more.
I tapped a hole in the intake as shown in the web site and this worked well. Grease the drill and tap. I also stuffed a rag in to prevent chips from getting deeper.
I did not want to tap a hole preturbo, so I placed it in the casted down pipe very close to the turbo about an inch away. Other say it should be preturbo but I chickened out. I will add 300 degrees to my readings for safety.
The site talks about punching a hole through the boot on the fire wall which also worked good. I pulled off the cover below the steering wheel to aid in better access. I also pulled the plastic wire junction box mounted on the firewall.
I bought some aftermarket wire taps that inlude a quick couple lug to join the wires. I spliced into the orange with white stripe for the lights and it does not say where to get ingnition power. Its the dark blue one in the bundle that travels up the steering column. I used a self tapping screw in the casted bracket below the steering wheel for the ground.
I bought some black corrigated wire tube and ran the wires across the top wire track. You can put them inside the track, but mine was taped up do to some failed latches at the factory.
I ran the transmission temp wire through the tube and down the trans dip tube in an stainless insulated jacket because it was close to the exhaust down pipe and secured it with stainless cable ties. I plastic wire tied every thing else.

Hello
I have not bought gauges for my wife's truck yet. I need to order them pretty soon.
When I installed gauges in her 99 by putting a 3 ported "T" block on ther line coming out of the trans. going to the trans. oil cooler. That is how many of the folks I've talked to are hooking up their gauges at least on the 2 nd generation. Is there a reason why I can't hook up similar on the 3rd generation.
I do not like reading the oil pan temp due to it travels through the lines and cooler/s before getting back to the pan and has time to cool off. Coming straight out of the trans. before it travels 12 inches is where I was reading the temps on her 99.
Will this work on the 3rd generation truck??
See Ya

Apparently '04 and '03 use a different colored wire for the dimmer to the light switch (or so I've heard), if you plan on tapping in there.
A lot of people use the Piers bolt for the boost rather than drilling and tapping. It replaces one of the intake bolts.
I did post-turbo on EGT also. Before drilling just make sure you can also get the tap to the same place and be able to turn it.

Try this location and keep in mind you will also need a 1/8npt x 1/4npt bell reducer and a bushing 1/8npt x 1/4npt for the installation. We also have full instructions available on our website and by calling us.

I have some pics of EGT probe and boost bolt in my "Member's Photo Gallery" if that helps. I didn't do trans. I used the same instructions that dra7 posted, although my probes were different for the X-Monitor, it still provided some good tips. I have an auto like you and ran the wires through the firewall via the hole where the clutch would be. They glue a plastic plug over the clutch hole that you can drill through easily...then up to the pillar. Good luck!

My '04 shop manual says the dimmer signal wire is orange with a brown stripe. Not sure about '03.
You're right, however, my truck had two orange wires with brown stripes in the 5 wire headlight switch loom... thanks DC! I used a test light to find the right one, but it's in a small loom of wires coming from the switch under the dash. The instructions I had said the correct wire was orange with a white stripe (not on my truck... maybe it's for '03?) I removed only the large kick panel under the steering wheel to get to it. For 12V keyed power I tapped into a pink wire with a yellow stripe in the main loom headed up the steering shaft. Hope this helps....

In the 04 and up the dimmer switch wire is orange with a brown trace and yes there are two of them. It should be the one on the bottom of the switch, next to the black wire. The panel that holds the light switch is a pop out so it is very easy to access the back of the switch. Use a test light to verify the wire like banshee suggested, or a volt meter will work just as well........
