g56 growl ?
I just put in a sbc 3250 yesterday and tranny making growling noise in 4th and worse in 5th gear. All below about 1800 -2000 rpm above that smooth as silk, shifts fine and runs good just noise. It made this noise before in 5th gear just not near as bad. Any of you had anything like this happen? I think tranny going south.

I didn't like the looks of my DMF when we had it out, looked pretty much like another clutch in-line there.
I thought the Solid flywheel was superior to the Dual Mass?
hllbllyhellion: Is it a low, chattery sound? Me and everyone else with dual disks get that, it is usually only from about 1400 to 1700RPM'S though, or just before you are about to get into a lug situation going up a hill before down shifting.

Ya' mind writing a little more info on it? I got a 3250DD before I put put a tuner on my 06. When I put the Superchips (earlier Superchips tuner that had quite a bit more power than the present Superchips tune) my 04.5 killed the clutch asap. So I bought the DD3250 (Peter @ SB said it was the most user friendly performance clutch he sells) before I installed the tuner on performance on my current truck. Then I put the Superchips on and the stock clutch did not slip at all.
I just am interested in all info/opinions on the 3250 DD. I will put it in soon, definitely before next summer when I take a long trailer trip.
Please excuse a bit of a thread jack hillbilly, but it is kind of right on topic with your question.
Thanx PJ.

Well, I WON mine here thanks to a joint effort between Peter and Lary. I absolutely couldn't be happier with it. I don't have any crazy mods, just the Smarty. I load up #9 and don't think twice about romping on it.
The kit is quite impressive, along with the service you get from the Southbend folks. My package weighed in at 103lbs shipped with the new flywheel. If you haven't yet, you might as well order the hydraulic upgrade. It is supposed to be more stout than the stock unit and be able to handle the increase in pedal pressure (although minimal) the dual disk has. The plate load is on the light side, so it's not like you will be going from a Honda to a 1978 International dump truck, but there is difference in pedal pressure from stock.
Took myself and my mechanic (thanks again Scotte) about 4 hours to get it all installed. No rush at all, short breaks for finding sockets we dropped that found their way under the toolbox and such. I have found the clutch to be nice and smooth, I have backed relatively heavy loads and started on hills with ease. From what I understand the clutch may be able to handle somewhere in the 650HP range, which is higher than I will need to see. I'm probably sitting in the 440-460 range as equipped now.

My G56 has always made noise in 5th but that is it. I have a 3850 DD and it just made it more noticable. I have pulled the truck all season in 2nd high or 5th low and not had any problems with it. So I just live with it.

6 or 12 button??? I assume it is a 12 but I thought I would ask..

PJ it sounds more like a bearing going bad. With the stock clutch I still had the same growl but it is definately more pronounced with the new clutch. I love the new 3250 what little I have driven it. Shifts really smooth engages very nice I don't expect any differences when backing a trailer either. I can now change gears and bury the needle.

The 3250 has significant more pedal pressure than the old stocker in my truck. The old stocker just kept getting softer and softer until it started slipping, I believe something was wrong with the pressure plate. I saw this as prime opportunity to upgrade.
