Fuel Tank Vent Mod
Anyone that has been hesitating to do the fuel tank vent mod, don't delay! It's worth every bit of time and money you put into it! I'm no expert on auto stuff and I had mine installed in 2 hours. Nothing to it! I didn't run my tank down to E or nothing before doing it and my trip computer still showed roughly 110 miles to empty. After the install, I went and filled up in under 5 minutes w/ 33.334 gallons of fuel! ($100 even at the pump )
Anyhow, like I said before, it's worth every penny!

Mine's been sitting in the garage ever since I tried to run the truck down on fuel and it died on me. I put a new filter on and it has been fine since but I'm scared to run it that low again....

I ran mine down to 0 DTE, and still had 5-6 gals in the tank. A floor jack and a fabricated "cradle" made out of scrap 2x4's made getting the tank in and out easy. I poured 3 gals back into the tank, ran down and filled up. 38.25 gals when the pump clicked off.
$123 OUCH!!!

If you are talking about the vents being open and putting 1/4" gas line in them?
If so I just did mine without removing the tank. Just reach up at the rear of the tank by the rear end and the first one it on top. Then go towards the front of the truck and the low one is half way. I did both of mine in 2 minutes.
Then took 10 minutes to find the wire ties. I just stuck each on inside the frame and wire tied them in place.

I did mine because of the recall for 06 from DC. The problem is the vent and roller over valves on top of the tank has no hoses connected to them. The front "vent" is sitting in a depression and dirt and water will collect then run into the fuel tank. By putting a 3' 1/4" gas line you can run the hose to a safe and dry spot under the tuck. I just put mine in a hole in the frame and wire tied it in place with a zip tie.
Here is another thread about this. Pictures too!

The "Tank Vent Mod" these guys are talking about involves cutting a new hole in the tank and relocating the large air vent to uppermost portion of the tank, to get rid of the air gap. It allows you to fit a lot more fuel in the tank without it clicking off at the pump. Greatest mod you can do for $50 and 2 hours of your time. While my tank was dropped I did fix the "open vents" at the top of the tank.
Dodgezilla.... just do it man! It is worth the time and effort. I did mine by my self on a slopped driveway and it wasn't bad with 2-3 gallons left.
