Fuel pump question/Smarty question
I believe I need to upgrade my lift pump and have a couple questions. If I go with a airdog or a FASS,do I have to drop the tank or raise the bed to do the install? I would really rather not go with a system that requires dropping the tank or raising the bed. But I also want the protection of the added fuel filters. Is there a system available?
The reason for the upgrade is,I got a Smarty Sr POD and have been playing with the settings. I decided to try level 9, POD 40. The truck won't get out of its own way. I tried different POD settings with the same results. #8 is the same way, just no power. I can sit still and the engine will rev up,but put a load on it and it just kind of bogs and won't spool up. On other settings the truck runs just fine.(I realized my tranny is a weal link also) I usually runs level 3 with added timing. What could be the problem? Lack of fuel like I thought? I haven't installed my gauges,so I can't tell what's going on with the boost levels.

If all you want is the added filtration, look at Glacier Diesel's MK-2 kit.

for an 03 you dont have to drop the tank for a fass. If you are gonna keep the power up above level 7 a fass or airdog you should buy. If the truck is on level 8 or 9 and wont get out of its way, sounds to me like your roasting a tranny. you should be able to hear if it is spooling up or not tho.Id be putting those guages in and that would help us better to diagnose your problem.

I don't think the tranny is slipping or going south, its like the turbo won't spool up. I guess I'll have to wait till I have my gauges hooked up to see what's happening turbo wise. Now that I don't have to worry about dropping my tank to go with a Dog or Fass,I have to decide which one to buy.
Thanks for the info
