Angry Fuel Economy

I JUST BOUGHT A USED 2005 3500 SRW QUAD, I HAVE 6 INCH LIFT WITH 35 INCH TIRES. I PUT AN EDGE WITH ATTITUDE WITH MAC PERFORMANCE AIR INDUCTION. FUEL ECONOMY IS NO BETTER THAN 14.8 MPG ON THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE, BUT WHEN YOU MANUALLY CALCULATE IT IT COMES OUT AT 12 MPG. THATS ONLY 425 MILES TO A TANK OF FUEL.

ANYBODY HAVE ANYTHOUGHTS OR SHOULD I GO BACK TO FORD

The 05's and up do not get as good of mileage as the older ones, but you should get better than that,, and I guarentee that if driven the same you will out do the ford hands down. Maybe if you could put in all your specs in your sig line we might be able to help a bit better

As far as I know the higher you take your truck and the size of your tires, you will loose mileage. I had a 2004.5 with a tuff country 4.5" lift with 35" tires and staying out of the pedal I averaged 14, lowest was 12.9 calculated. I also had quads standard box set at 60hp.

Also you didn't mention if it was a standard or auto tranny. If it's an auto that's not helping matters at all. My buddy drives a 05' 3500 dually standard and consistantly gets 17 around town unloaded.

hope this helps,
Jamie

lift=drag
tires=mass
heavy foot=more fuel spent moving

Yep I have to agree I noticed some power loss with my 295 Nitto's and H2 rims. They are heavier. But I have not yet had my speedo done. And I drop a 1/2 mpg on average. I am hoping a box will help this since I change my ratio to 3:90 with the bigger tires. So that punch is gone for now

Which gears do you have? The people with 3:73 gears are getting better mileage with upsized tires.

I complained about my mileage for about the first 40,000 miles. I'm at 85,000 miles now and I'm getting over 700 miles per tank with my Quad box on the 60hp setting!
