I haven't popped mine, but did cover it up. I believe that the earlier common rails had problems with it too.

Thanks but it still isn't definitive enough for me... And it does seem the more I read about this that the Smarty is involved more often than not...?

i have driven the smarty loaded since december. i dont think my smarty caused this. i am pretty sure that I did not allow it to completely warm up, even though at the time i though it was ready. i also did several runs with just the smarty and no trouble, then the 1st run stacked i popped it. I did rev quite high, when it went.

Anyone consider leaving your heater on before slamming the throttle? I would think that the coolant would be flowing to/thru the coil and alleviate some of the pressure? Just a thought...

Anyone ever put a pressure gage on the block to monitor water pressure?? I think you could also set up some type of regulator/relief valve to dump excess pressure from the block back to the rad. It would be nice to know what pressure is required to push the plugs out.

See this thread for the post

That is not a bad idea!!!!

Just coming from myself I would rather fix it under the hood so I do not have to run around on a 90+ degree day with the heat blasting!!!!!!
