Free airbox mod for filter minder bottoming out

I replaced the stock turbo on my 06 with a 64/14-71 turbo and with the stock airbox the filter minder all of the sudden was getting bottomed out on the first WOT run everytime, no a problem previously. So I hacked off the bottom of the airbox all the way around so that only about 2" of the bottom was still on there with the clips. It doesnt get anywhere near bottoming out now with the stock filter. It makes the turbo whistle louder, but also make a sucking noise which isnt as pleasing as if it was only turbo noise, but it isnt too bad.

I did that, but on rainy days my "fuel in water" light would come one. But it does whistle loud.

I know there is something funny that can be said about that but I need more coffee to think of it but I do have a question. How does rain affect the "Water in Fuel" indicator??

I just thought it was pulling water into the intake? As far as "something funny that can be said..." Yeah, that sounded kind of strange

the water in fuel sensor is on the stock fuel filter housing.......sucking water through the intake would not cause the water in fuel light to come on.

What did you do to stop that? I can maybe put a shield down low to keep splash up to a minimum. The aftermarket filters seem pretty wide open too, but most seems to have a shield. Thanks for the input.

the water in fuel light was not caused by any water coming into the intake ...
