Finished step 1 of my airhorn installation (pics)

They should be well protected up there.
HorseHauler,
That looks like the perfect location for the ricers that tend to drift into the side of us on the freeway.
That is under the front bumper isn't it”?
My horn as a Grover single trombone and has a deep tone, I have it mounted under the floorboard on the drivers side right under my feet.
At 70 MPH with the windows up even with the radio on, you cannot only hear the horn but you can feel it. I have my compressor set to cut out at 140 PSI.
I got the tank off from a semi tractor and welded a bracket so it is mounted on the passenger side bed rail, it fits tight between the cab and wheel well
The compressor is supposedly off from a Lincoln Continental, I tested it and it will pump 200 PSI and only get warm, this is also tucked up next to the air tank. The pressure switch I got from Grainger’s to cycle the relay that powers the pump motor. All of the lines are 3/8" & 1/4" nylon nyflex air brake line.
My future upgrades are going to be replacing the compressor with a Thomas compressor like the ones used on the Hummer CTIS systems and to add an additional secondary air tank for more volume.
I found out that the plastic Grover lanyard valves would tend to leak if you have much over 150 PSI for any time but they do make a brass unit.
At 150 PSI these horns are LOUD...
This is what the horn sounds like. TURN UP your volume...

I want to get a Stuttertone horn but I think I might sound to obvious in a crowd.

Did you know there was a leg laying under your truck? thought Id let you know before you run it over.

Does anyone know, would a simple auto parts store carry the correst 1/4" air line fittings and the 1/4" black airline hose??
I get all of my air brake lines and fittings from Hose Man but NAPA should also have them.

I'm going to mount it all on there, I think I can make it happen. My horns aren't going to be mounted like his though because I have 3 horns that are stacked in a triangle shape & won't take as much room to mount.

I have my Grover horn controlled by a manual valve and it is mounted above my left wind vent.
I know we are different years but I am pretty sure it should be possible.
Here is a picture of mine.

I ran ¼” nyflex tubing behind the trim and down through the rear of the cab.

well i have a VERY temporary setup haha. I have 1/4" line coming into the cab with my 1 gallon air compressor used in our garages sitting in the back seat pre-filled. hold the nozzel to the tube and blast haha. Not as loud though with all the tubing between the air source and the horns but it gets it done. I really need to get this finished
to the above post, yea it is mounted under the front bumper.

Down here, REAL train horns get installed where your spare tire is...you lose that. Can't give you the EXACT location, but I can say they face the back and sit around where your spare used to sit. The compressor can go along the side

I finally uploaded the pictures of my horn setup. Not the best pictures...
2 33" grovers mounted on the outboard side of the cab, the compressor is mounted ontop of the fuse box, and the pancake tank is mounted infront of the left front wheel well. I used 3/8" compressor lines for the hoses, the fittings were right, so I only had to cut one end of the hose : )

I can't click on the link to the eBay setup posted earlier but the description sounds like my set up. If it is then the compressor and tank will fit perfectly on the transfer case skid plate at least mine did. I used a standard 12v push button switch with a relay on the lower left of the dash and the triple horns are mounted under the bed in front of the spare, didn't have to remove it. Everything works great and the sound is sweet!
