Finished step 1 of my airhorn installation (pics)

Well I got around to finding a decent spot and building a bracket for my air horns. Now I am waiting on a compressor and tank so I can finish it off. I think I am going to get this compressor/tank combo here minus the horns http://cgi.ebay.com/Triple-Train-Hor...em140029511474
I just need to find a good place to mount it along the frame and build a box/shield to keep it dry. These should get the ricers and rubberneckers out of my way, I might upgrade to some train horns in the future...

here are where I have my horns mounted

and my limited tools to work with for a bracket

any others have pics of their air horn set up?

Man I have two Hadley 28" horns and had them on my old truck and I loved em. I just got this truck and I'm going to wait until I get a tool box for them bed to store the tank and compressor. I will try and get pics up asap. Hope more people have some horns to show.

I'm going to put mine on this weekend if I can get the install stuff together (hoses, switch, pressure regulator, & relay). Anything else I need? I have the horns, tank, compressor. I'll get pics when finished.

Why would you need a tank? Wouldn't just a compressor work? A few years ago I installed air horns on my moms miata. Kit came with compressor, horns, relay, and all the stuff to make it work. Really loud, but too high a pitch for a big truck.

LOUDER!!! You have pressure already built up instead of creating it & using it immediately.

I wonder if that compressor and tank is big and strong enough for airbags too? Kill two birds with one stone. If not, I'm considering building myself a compressor and tank setup, then getting bags and maybe even some train horns for all the idiot drivers around here.

That's almost identical to how I mounted my Grovers on my 05. I have the two of them mounted together facing one way (yours is problably better, blows sound to both sides) But almost the same. I have a oil less compresser I mounted on the bottom of my battery tray (took the front drivers side wheel well liner off) and mounted the air tank under the drivers side seat under the body. Looks good, really good. I also put a switch on my horn with a button for the compressoer, to control when it's on an off (in case a air line breaks, which on a 4xc4 that's off road a lot, could happen) and a switch to either blow the stocker, or the air horn.

That's what I plan on doing. That's how I got the air horns approved by the Mrs.

The tank/compressor combo is good enough also for bags but with my understanding you would have to add another tank to the tank. This tank has 3 ports on it to add other lines/tanks.
I can't wait to get these things hooked up, im trying to find a way to get it temporarily done for tomorrow.

Does anyone know, would a simple auto parts store carry the correst 1/4" air line fittings and the 1/4" black airline hose??

Go to the hardware store. They should have most of that, or at least the fittings.

Probably a dumb question: won't dirt and debris get clogged in those, affecting the performance? I know nothing about them, I think it is a great idea, just curious. considering doing it after reading this post
