fass and fuel shut off valve
my fass pump needs to come out of my truck this weekend. before it goes back in- i was thinking of putting in a fuel shut off valve in. i was wondering if it would make a difference if the valve was installed before fass pump or after the pump?? meaning- if some one was trying to start the truck who was not suppose to- which way of install (valve) would do no damage to the fass pump?

thought about that. i was just thinking since the fass pump had to come out this weekend- installing a shut off valve in the same area ( preferably before the fass would be easiest and fastest) did not want to make a project out of it. plus i wanted to make it accessible to me, without getting dirty, in case i wanted to shut the valve off,etc - for instance, if i nice clothes on as was leaving my truck at the airport, etc

I would put it where you suggest, since its easy to get @ for you. I have a Raptor pump on mine, put the ball valve on the inlet side of the pump. Turn off the fuel supply to the pump, pull the power supply to the pump, the engine isnt gettting any fuel. Thief isnt going to waste that much time trying to get the truck started. For added protection, I set the smarty to 1/2 power, then the pod part to 00, nobodys going to get my truck.

Not that you would damage the FASS.....but putting it before the pump might cause you headaches once you reopened the valve. With 100% restriction on the suction side, you will cause cavitation...which is not good on our pump for long periods, but it will also cause the pump to loose prime. You would possibly have to reestablish prime every time if you ran the pump with the valve shut.
My suggestion would be put the valve on the pressure line going to the engine. This wont do a thing to our pump as its designed to run with the feed line pretty much deadheaded. I also vote for putting it under the hood to restrict access…
