Factory mud flaps rubbing paint?

2 guys I know have them and they are rubbing off the paint where they meet the body. Any recommendations as to some clear stick-on plastic I can put on so the flaps rub that instead of the paint. I've seen (what looks like from the factory) plastic stick-on pieces on certain cars in the rocker area, usually right behind the wheels.

When I put the flaps on my 05, I put some wide double sided tape on the flaps where it would be touching the body.
That way its protected and sealed from anything getting between the flaps and the body.
Just an idea for you.

I second that. The reason your are getting wear is because dirt is getting between the rubber and paint and the movement is slowly sanding the paint away. Three solutions:

1. Put double stick tape between the rubber and body part.
2. Put a layer of clear tape between so the rubber and dirt rubs against it; should be able to find it at most places that sell auto parts.
3. leave a slight gap between the body part and rubber. Of course it doesn't look as good close up as a tight fitting molded mud flap.

I have Duraflaps on mine and love them! Fit awesome and no sign of paint wear.
