factory 05 SLT radio, no aux:(

Hi guys, I wanted to ask. I noticed that 2012 stereo's come with an aux port (for my Ipod). I am one who doesnt mess with cd's anymore. Can anyone tell me will the newer 2012 radio's simply swap into my 2005 location? If not I guess I will have to swap in an aftermarket radio. Which I really dont want to do as I like the clean look of the factory waterfall. As always thanks for any info

Robert

Look for a stock radio on that internet auction site. They got a compatibility list and it lets you know if it'll work with your truck. Or maybe someone here has a factory radio w/ an aux port for sale.

I still have the factory radio in my 08. It has an aux port. I bet with some looking you can find one. I think mopar started including them in 07.
Should be a quick direct swap too.

Another question. My 2006 has a Aux port. How do you use it?? Can I somehow plug in my android phone and play music from it thru my stereo?

Yes, all you need to get is a stereo patch cable.

'02-05 uses the DIN 1.5 format. '06 and above IIRC is the double DIN. So some serious cutting/hacking is involved get get the double DIN to fit in a 1.5 format.

You can add an aux port to your radio with an adapter box from PIE (precision interface electronics).Google Chry02-aux as an example. The part number may be different if you have a Sat or Nav radio. I haven't used one in my truck but I put one in a '02 ford explorer and it worked great.

I believe it comes with a connector that plugs into the back of the radio. You may have to add a power and ground but it was nothing complicated. I did it a couple years ago so I don't remember the details exactly.

I have a kit that taps into the antenna coax connector mounted behind the passenger side kick panel. Around $20 from Best Buy, Crutchfield, etc.

Mikey I like that idea. I currently use a cable that goes in the cigerette lighter. Then it tells you which station to turn the radio to. I dont like it as its hit or miss when the station goes out.

I saw a company on the internet that will install a aux port on a factory deck and I can't remember for the life of me where/who it was
