Looks like something I need to do then . . .

How involved is swapping out the springs? Can someone with a fairly basic wrench knowledge do the swap or am I going to have to have it done by an diesel engine tech? Thanks guys!

put cylinder #1 at TDC get a source automotive spring compressor remove all 6 injectors compress springs remove retainers on all four cyl #1 valves replace springs and compress replace retainers. same on all cylinders. DO cyl. 1 and 6,at cyl 1 TDC 2 and 5 at cyl 2 TDC, 3 and 4 at cyl 3 TDC. pen magnet helps for removal or keepers and grease helps the keepers stay put. I always take a dead blow and hit the tops of each valve afterwords to make sure keepers seated correctly.

Not sure yet, something let loose. Will know tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm guessing piston, two injectors were leaking.

Hintz gave a link to the CompD forum, on another thread involving valve springs here on DTR. (this forum I am assuming started this price war) Here is the link:

in the post he says he was going to produce a generic brand of springs to sell at 250. I was wondering did he produce a second set and these are the springs he is selling now at the 199 price.

I am not trying to restart a war or argument, I just want to make sure I would be purchasing a proven product. Does anybody know?

No, the springs he is selling for 199 are the ovate 110 lb springs not the F1 type.
