exhaust temps way low
running stock turbo
ram air III
5 " exhaust
ive ran a tst pmcr with aggressive program
as high as 3/2 (in my opinion, way too much power for my turbo)
never seen over 1100 degrees pre turbo in back half of manifold
ran Banks six gun w speed loader on 6
couldnt get over 1000 degrees pre turbo
im concerned
some of the temps ive heard others getting , im not seeing
whats wrong
anyone else had way low temps and ran into issues down the line
low temps make me feel all warm inside but freek me out
with this amount of power my old 02 would be at 1500 degrees

Hi I ran my TST to 9-5 with stock turbo , 5 x 5 with 100 hp Quadzilla - Egts set to defuel at 1400 deg , hit that in less than a block - totally black out a street.
3X3 with a 50 hp stage one predator - by 100 mph. 1400 deg no problem, hit 1400 deg tst alone mutch faster than with fueling module + tst.
By the way when I changed my turbo after 30,000 miles with tst + fueling module the turbo looked like new
After new turbo 5x5 + 50 hp module my huge smoke show is mostly gone but can still hit 1400 deg , just takes longer but way more useable power.
I believe if anyone is making an honest 100 hp + extra over stock with a third generation they will easily hit at least 1300 + deg preturbo, unless you have twins. I mean foot right to the floor, not gradually getting into it. I run pre & post pyros. just to be sure. Maybe my truck just runs hot but 1000 deg thats just a sunday drive. Sorry about the long post.

I posted a few temps just for comparison. I would try another pyrometer if I was you. The guys with banks systems temps seem low, one truck for sure had a meltdown.
You dont want that .
Im installing a 5" exhaust system tomorrow - maybe that will bring my egts down a little.

My temps are super cool as well, but I like to think my super free flowing intake and exhaust mods coupled with the super efficient turbo has a hand in that. Since slipping my overdrive clutches I have pretty much stuck to running just the power pup, on extreme of course, until my new parts show up. No matter what I do with the pup I haven't been able to get pre-turbo over about 1175 or so. After some turbo tweak'n I'm down to about 1000* MAX. Your right that it seems like there have been a lot of Banks equipped trucks getting sick lately, but I also noticed that they all seem to be running the X-Monitor as well. That got me to thinking since my X-Monitor is my only pre-turbo reading, maybe it is not as accurate as my trust in it would have me believe. Suspicion finally got the best of me and I decided to install a second EGT gauge pre-turbo so I could compare the two. Got everything I need and will drill it this weekend and hopefully my curiosity will be satisfied.

AK, That is interesting, I will monitor your results. I am worried about the same thing too. I have two probes, one for the Speedloader and one for a DiProcal guage. I would be really worried about low temps if I only had one probe.
Agades, I am probably who Car Nut is talking about. I have bought some stuff from them and have spoke with them a few times about the low EGT's. I am sure the exhuast/intake setup I have are accountable for the low EGT's but at times I really think it may somehow maybe a lack of fuel flow. It does scare me that I am missing something somewhere with the low EGTs and will find out the hard way someday.

Mine stays pretty cool but I too think I just have a good combo of intake/exhaust parts. Pulling about 10,000lb my temps stay around 1000 max unless I mash the pedal to the floor. I did that with the trailer empty to pass a slow dump truck and my temps jumped up to 1200 max which is still sweeeeet....

The temps I posted are towing temps. Without a trailer behind me mine stay really cool too and if I mash the pedal the highest I've seen is just over 1100 degrees. Before I installed the BHAF and Banks DP I could hit 1200..
If you've already tried different guages and probes then I would say the temps are accurate. Now if there is something wrong with the truck that's causing it, I think there are plenty of guys here that wish their truck had the same problem.. These trucks are strange! We could have identical trucks and do the exact same mods to them and have very different results. Some get high EGTs and some get low EGTs.
