Exhaust brake on Auto

How well are they working with the 48re? Is it worth buying it? Thanks for the input! Wes

I like mine. 22000 lbs GCVR on a 6 % grade does not require service brakes (3rd gear). In fact the cruise control turns it on and off at that grade. I use it all the time.

I love mine as well. Barely touch the brakes going down a steep grade.

For your year of truck that is correct.

Was that for the Jacobs or the PacBrake?

Jacobs.....there are more available, but the price has crept up to $705, if I remember right.

Yeah, you are right. They have a couple at $705. The Jacobs won't work for me because the vacuum pump mounts in the same spot as my supplemental fuel filter. If I'm not mistaken, with the PacBrake I can mount the air compressor wherever its convenient.

I think GDP can get you a fitting off the cp3 that will work with the big line kit and the vacuum pump if you are interested in a jacobs. I know he has had this come up before. I wanted to put on an air pressure controlled brake but in the end I went with jacobs to protect my transmission warranty.

Had the dealer to install the Jake when I bought the truck. I now have 26,000 miles on it and the Jake has worked flawlessly. Pulled my 13,000 pound fifth wheel (22,000 pounds gross weight) all over the Rockies with nary a white knucle. I am very satisfied with the Jake Brake and would buy one again.
