hey, so just got the word from the dealer that my issues that i have been having is a valve that blew apart into the piston and scored the piston walls. I would like to have the engine rebuild if possible. Does anyone know a good shop that rebuilds diesels?

Lets do that again!!!! It was the first and probably will be the last time I experiance something like that again!!!! Unless I ever go back to BFE Eastern NC, but don't see myself ever doing that... Scheid's way over priced. I got mine done from Baker Engineering in MI for less than half of Scheids. If you have they money, they will take it. I understand I am new here, so no one cares what I think, but I would give Baker a call. Google it. They do race gas engines & some diesel work.

Rebuilt=replacing what broke inside the engine maybe a little machine work
Remand=complete machining of the block, crank, and cylinder head, w/ all new internal parts. Yes, there is a big price difference between a rebuilt and a remand.

I'd talk to Tim Barber at TRE.

Tim speaks common rail fluently and would have no problem dealing with your "issue". Tim shoots straight and has put some combinations together that live daily under monster HP.

Scheid can do the deed as well, but be prepared for the deep financial end.
